Letter signed : Metz, to the Duc de Gramont, 1744 Sept. 15.

Assuring the duc de Gramont that he is recovering from his illness. Written in reply to and on the same paper asa letter from the duc stating that the day he arrived, he learned of the King's illness, and that his own son fell ill on the same day; he was delighted to hear of the King's improvement the following day. He also notes that they are marching against the enemy, but he expects no military engagement at this time.
